• In October 2015, Brazil experienced an unusual increase in the number of babies born with microcephaly, which was reportedly linked to Zika virus
• Officials expected more than 1,000 cases of microcephaly to occur in northeast Brazil in 2016, but only about 80 cases were reported
• Researchers have suggested that Zika virus alone may not be the cause of microcephaly

The federally funded research, now published in the Journal of Autoimmunity, not only demonstrates how this food-borne bacterium, known as Campylobacter jejuni, triggers GBS, but offers new information for a cure.

If chicken isn't cooked to the proper minimum internal temperature, bacteria can still exist.

Since the virus Zika was blamed for a cluster of cases in northeastern Brazil of the devastating birth defect microcephaly, the mainstream media have been dominated by fear of a Zika pandemic. Meanwhile, the real culprit(s) behind the surge in microcephaly in that corner of Brazil have been ignored, with the exception of a few scientists, and even fewer journalists.

• "Self-limiting" transgenic mosquitoes are slated to be released in the Florida Keys to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito, a carrier of dengue, Zika, yellow fever, and chikungunya virus
• Other GE insects undergoing field testing include pink bollworm moth, diamondback moth, and fruit fly. All are engineered to make the entire species go extinct from lack of reproduction
