How The Right Fats Fight Fat

Omega Fix For Obesity

Only last week I saw a post about eating the right fats to fight fat and so reduce obesity.  Here then is an explanation on this very subject:

  • It’s not the disparity between food intake and energy expended that contributes to obesity, scientists say, but how people view dietary fats, specifically omega-3s and omega-6s, in response to U.S. dietary guidelines
  • Omega-3 and omega-6 fats should be balanced in your diet, but rather than the optimal 1:1 ratio, it’s become 1:16 in favor of omega-6s over the last 100 years
  • Consuming too many omega-6 fats can lead to the development of excess white tissue (fat) and chronic inflammation (the biggest red flags along with disease)
  • Studies show a link between eating omega-3 fats and decreased fatty tissue development and weight loss
  • Maintaining the right mix of healthy omega fats into your diet is the key to staving off excess weight gain
