  • Lutein is well-known for its vision-enhancing properties. It helps stave off age-related eye diseases such as cataracts and macular degeneration, which is the No. 1 cause of blindness among the elderly
  • Lutein may also play an important role in brain health, and may help prevent cognitive decline. Those with higher levels of lutein in middle-age had more youthful neural responses than those with lower levels

  • Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the most common cause of blindness among the elderly, but may be largely preventable through an antioxidant-rich diet
  • To protect your eyesight, eat plenty of fresh berries and vegetables, especially deep green, blue, orange, and red varieties
  • Other nutrients that are of particular benefit for your eyes include astaxanthin, omega-3, vitamin D, lutein, and zeaxanthin
