Lawn Mower Injuries Send 13 Children to the Emergency Department Every Day
With the lawns in need of mowing weekly, I feel it is important to highlight the dangers of lawn mowers, not just for children but adults too.
A nephew of mine lost several toes in such an accident and actually, is lucky to be alive as he could have bled to death, had he not had the presence of mind to rush, bleeding, from the garden through the house to the front door and shout for help. He was alone at home and wanted to mow the lawn to make it look nice for the return of his parents from holiday. He shouted for help and fortunately the neighbours heard him and rushed to his side and rang the emergency services.
It was a traumatic time for all the family. Accidents do happen in the blink of an eye and therefore it pays to be vigilant especially with children around.
