The Healing Benefits Of Watercress

The Healing Benefits Of Watercress

I knew Watercress was healthy and full of vitamins and minerals but was astounded to read just how good this vegetable is.  I shall look out for this in future.

  • Watercress is a tasty green vegetable that looks like an herb, but is actually a crucifer related to cabbages, arugula, cauliflower and broccoli
  • A vegetable that came to North America with European immigrants, watercress contains more iron than spinach, more calcium than milk, and more vitamin C than oranges!
  • Mouth ulcers, liver disease, gallstones, fluid retention and obesity are just a few of the traditional medicinal uses watercress has been noted for, most of them shown to have merit in modern scientific studies
  • Compounds in watercress have been shown to decrease the risk of lung, colorectal, head and neck and prostate cancers, as well as a particularly virulent form of breast cancer
