Early Puberty Related To Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals

Early Puberty related to Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals

I was very alarmed when I read this article about girls starting menstruation from the age of four.  This has to be absolutely outrageous, they are barely out of their nappies.

  • Precocious puberty is triggered by premature release of hormones, which results in sexual maturation, sometimes years before the natural norm
  • Environmental exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals plays a major if not decisive role. Recent research also claims that high soda consumption can affect young girls’ rate of maturation
  • Many of the same chemicals that cause precocious puberty are also associated with early menopause, which can have an adverse effect on ovarian function
