It's been a while since I have written on this page.  However, that's about to change.

Anyway, if you are interested, you might like to follow me on Pinterest.  This site just blows me away with the visual information it offers.

Here's an article about Pinterest that might be of interest:

Pinterest - What is this?

For those of you who are new to Pinterest, it is taking the world by storm.  What is Pinterest.  Like Facebook and Twitter initially, and all the other Social Media Sites, it has not yet entered the dictionary.  It can be described as a fun social media site that gives you unlimited scope for searching for things and share them on your boards, whilst also repining and liking or commenting on other people's boards.  It is very much about visual searching and a great site of discovery.  It could be described as Pictures of Interest shorted for Pinterest or pin your interest.

Where it differs from Facebook, Twitter, Google and Linkedin and the other sites is that there is no facility to just sign up.  You must be invited by someone.  This very much makes it more exclusive.

Like with Facebook, it enables you to share ideas and photos and anything you consider that could be of interest to someone else.  What you won't find, is people who write about their daily activities which is great because not everyone is so interested in someone else's menial everyday tasks.

It is a relatively young site but said to be the fastest growing site and is likely to overtake the other Social Media Sites currently being used.

Pinterest enables sharing on a visual scale which is that much more fun and often I am in awe of just how much  one is able to share.  It simply caters for every interest under the sun and also allows you to see what interests your friends and other people.  This site allows very much for like-minded people to share their findings much like on Facebook but in more graphic ways.  Personally, I think this is the site for the more discerning user.

Take for instance you have read a book that you feel would benefit a lot of people and one that you consider a bestseller.  This can then be recommended on a board which you name and under that heading you then enter all the books that you love, for others to check out and perhaps read themselves.  Since pictures are so much more powerful, this draws the reader so much more than mere text even with a powerful headline.

Naturally for Internet Marketers, this is one of those tailor made sites and they have heard of this way before everyone else and are already marketing their goods in a very profitable way.

The danger, and the drawback, I can see is that much time is spent on this site and it is said that the users are 90% women and only 10% of men.

Why?  Because Pinterest deals with a wide spectrum of women's interests from style, to cooking, to weddings, to home improvement, to crafts, the list is just endless.

The sky is the limit for this site and it is rather exciting!

Enjoy!
